Our Noosa Biosphere is an important part of the lives of all residents and visitors to this region.

Check out this short video that highlights all the beautiful features of our Biosphere.

So, what is a Biosphere?

It is an area comprised of terrestrial, marine and coastal ecosystems in which the local community has managed to combine both conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.

The Noosa region is a special place because of its beautiful, natural environment, and because of its community – who have worked to protect and maintain it. It is recognised globally for its rich biodiversity.

The Noosa biosphere was recognised by UNESCO in 2007 under the Man and the Biosphere program. One of 14 biospheres in Australia, and one of only 600 biospheres worldwide.
